The Daily Show by Paid RSS/Bittorrent

I wish it was available now. I would pay.

As is, I don't watch enough television to subscribe to cable. Just not in the habit. I watch series' occasionally on video.

As is, Bittorrent will do. I'd rather pay for reliable, high-quality, scheduled delivery, and compensate Jon Stewart.

I hope the industry takes this opportunity instead of suing it out of existence.

I also found this by googling. I agree. I'd be more than happy to pay some reasonable amount for Daily Show torrents (or any other fast method of download).

Also, if Comedy Central and the Daily Show hosted the videos, they could distribute them with the commercials in tact (or, they could have separate web-broadcast advertizers), which would surely make their sponsers happy. It would also lower the amount at which it would be reasonable to charge viewers to download it.

I totally agree. Found this site the same way as the others and would love Daily Show available via Bittorrent. Throw Cartoon Network's Adult Swim on the mix and I'd be set. The small handful of shows I'm interested in just aren't worth 40-50 bucks a month. However, I'd gladly pay for the few shows I do like.

The daily show is always posted on usenet, a.b.multimedia and a.b.mm.comedy

I'm not from America and there is no other way for me to see The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. And untill recently i could find the daily show on bittorrent sites, but now i suddenly stopped. Yesterday i found on usenet two shows from the 6th and 7th October. But its now the 14th. I miss Jon Stewart.

"I hope the industry takes this opportunity instead of suing it out of existence."

Looks like they went with the latter.

I never liked their policies before... but now, it's personal.

Jack: your ISP should provide you with a newsserver, ask them. If they don't, I'd suggest switching ISP's.

I also would pay for The Daily Show, the search "daily show torrents" lead me here :P

I find some relief that CNN airs The daily show global edition, at least they do in Norway, where i'm from.

Can someone explain to me why it wouldn't be profitable to host TDS _WITH_ ads? I bet it could be done by enforcing some kind of security licens and some sort of block to copy it.

Yep, another googler here trying to get a fix of the Daily Show. I miss ShunTV, they were so reliable!

It's funny but The Daily Show and Adult Swim are all I'm interested in on TV as well. Great minds must truly think alike. :)

Now let's all head over to the "Cable A La Carte" petition and see if we can't get the FCC to force cable companies to sell their services one channel at a time! www.HearUsNow.org

Wow, I had just been talking to a couple co-workers about this myself. I haven't had TV for 8 or 9 years and I don't plan on ever getting it again. But, I love the Daily Show, I think it is the only show worth watching. Until a couple weeks ago I was watching clips of the show on their website. That is good but it is not the whole show. About two weeks ago I started downloading it via bittorrent. I really want to support the show. I have bought both of Jon's books and I bought indecision 2004. But it doesn't make sense for the the Daily show to put out a "season" on DVD. Not many would buy that a year after most of the shows have aired. So the idea of people being able to subscribe to the show and download it is the only logical solution. I would pay for it. I would put up with advertisements. I would even wait for a couple days if they wanted to put a two or three day delay before making it available. But, please let me support my favorite show.

As I bounce around the net looking for Daily Show torrents, I'm amazed at how many people share my view: I don't have a TV, I don't want a TV, but dammit I want to watch the Daily Show. How many other shows on television inspire this kind of desperation among people who simply aren't amenable to television addiction?

I wrote a custom toolchain in Perl with mimms to use the comedy central RSS feed as a source for new Windows Media streams, download them, transcode the downloaded video, and present them as an iTunes compatible videocast on my local server. That's a lot of work for a bunch of video clips from a show...

:)

agree 100%... the sooner the television industry learns that this is an on-demand world and quit charging us $75/month for 400 channels you never watch, just let us pay for the shows we do actually watch.

they should just post torrents of all daily shows / all shows with commercials and it make a pass at at prevent skipping around the movie file to skip the commercials. think that's an option in some forms i've seen. or, have no-commercial downloads sponsored somehow. i'd throw some consumer dollars at the right sponsor if done the right way.
