David Weinberger wants the notion of friendship to remain imprecise, instead of clearly delineated with false precision.
I don’t mind if the definition is precise, so long as it is so precise as to be unique and hard to compare.
David’s picture is fuzzy to start. My picture has lots of little spikes and looks fuzzy at life-scale.
This reminds me of something i did once i don’t remember why – write a list all of the subcultures that i belonged to. The list was so long i was amazed, and remarked on it to a friend, who curiously asked me to send it. So i typed it in, and while typing came up with even more than i’d had the first time around.
Since then i don’t worry about being categorized so much. My profile of categories is probably unique.
Still, i resonate with David’s concerns, and have some sense of usefulness lacking.
friendship is fractal to you? I could agree with that.
